For the past 14+ years (since 2007), Divisions 50 and 28 of the American Psychological Association have hosted a joint poster session featuring early stage investigators conducting research on substance use. The goal of this event is two-fold:
· To highlight the excellent work of these early stage investigators
· To facilitate networking with established scientists and peers in the field
Each year, presenters are competitively selected from investigators whose abstracts have been accepted by APA for presentation. Presenters from other APA divisions are eligible and are invited to apply. Through generous funding from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) and the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), awardees each receive $750 to defray costs for attending the APA annual convention.
While typically held in-person, during the COVID19 pandemic, this special event is conducted remotely. It is a live event, using multiple Zoom rooms, each moderated by a scientist representing Division 50, 28, NIAAA or NIDA.
Note: If you would like to participate in our research study testing the SiS app, do not download the app yet! You will be automatically ineligible if you download the app before enrolling in the study.
To facilitate conversations, each year, a brochure provides an overview of the schedule and the presenters, and each poster is available for viewing:
